Task 1
In this activity, we will learn some announcements which you might be already familiar with. Read the four printed announcements and listen to the spoken announcements that follow.

1. Similarities
- Both the written and spoken announcements give information to people or public.
- Both the written and spoken announcement use common expression in announcement to persuade people join or take part in the activities and to remind people about planned activities/ agenda
2. Differences
- Spoken announcements give more detail information/descriptions than written announcements
- The heading in written announcement has one clear purpose or social function while the heading of
spoken announcements have several purposes in each announcement
- Some grammatical constructions are used in written announcement as are some kinds of

vocabularies using specific terms or legal terms while in spoken announcements, vocabularies are
used mainly in speech including the using of slang and tags like ‘I am out’, ‘let’s have a rocking
day’, etc.
